Catherine Geissler is Professor Emerita, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, King’s College London, President of The Nutrition Society, UK (2013-2016) and Secretary General of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (2013-2017). She graduated from Edinburgh University and obtained her PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley. Her main research interests have been Public Health Nutrition, energy metabolism and obesity and iron metabolism. She has been consultant to international organisations including the World Bank, FAO, WHO, UNICEF in many countries. In Africa she has worked in Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Senegal.
